Partnering with the community
We are committed to supporting local communities and safeguarding the environment. Private Energy Partners proposes to develop the Energy Hub in a way that delivers meaningful benefits to the local area, while minimising impacts.
Our focus includes creating jobs and business opportunities for locals, protecting wildlife and native vegetation, addressing fire hazards, weeds and pests, reducing noise and visual disturbance, and minimising the impact of construction traffic on local roads.
We will engage with the local community during the development of the Energy Hub. This will include providing regular project updates and working with the community to develop a Community Partnership Program so project benefits are targeted at local needs.
Community Partnership Program
We are developing a Community Partnership Program to share the benefits of our Gladstone SDA Energy Hub project with the Gladstone region, including Mount Larcom and Yarwun
Locals know their community better than anyone, so we are seeking your ideas and feedback. Help us create a program with long-lasting benefits to meet the needs of your community – today and into the future.

Social Impact Assessment
We are undertaking a voluntary Social Impact Assessment (SIA) for the Gladstone SDA Energy Hub Project. Our approach to communities goes beyond compliance. We are genuinely committed to the safety, wellbeing and prosperity of the Gladstone region.
An SIA is required for large scale resources projects and other projects undertaking an Environmental Impact Study. It is also required for large-scale solar and wind projects.
Currently, an SIA is not mandatory for gas and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects. However, we have chosen to undertake a voluntary SIA because we consider it is best practice to do so, regardless of whether it is mandatory or not. This reflects our commitment to the wellbeing of the communities we work in and to listening to concerns, ideas and opportunities in our decision making about the project.
A voluntary SIA enables impacted and interested people to shape project decisions and outcomes early in the planning stages. This helps to ensure community values are understood from the beginning of the project and considered in decision making. This in turn will minimise potential impacts on the communities of Mount Larcom, Yarwun and the wider Gladstone region.
It also identifies how economic benefits to the region – jobs, training, local business opportunities and community spending – could be enhanced. The SIA will be undertaken concurrently with our Community Partnership Program.
