Northern Quartz Campus update - December 2025

1 December 2025

Community Information Session – thank you

Thank you to everyone who joined the Northern Quartz Campus Community Information Session on Wednesday 12 November at the Woodstock Sport and Recreation Club. You can view the posters here.

Site investigations underway

Work is currently underway within the proposed Northern Quartz Campus area at the Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct. Investigations include:

  • Geotechnical drilling to check ground conditions
  • Groundwater monitoring to understand baseline water quality
  • Cultural heritage monitoring.

These activities will continue into 2026.

Regional Social Impact Assessment – next steps

Independent consultants, Elliott Whiteing, are continuing their Regional Social Impact Assessment (SIA) of our proposed projects. They will integrate the feedback provided by the local community at our recent Community Information Session and at workshops held in mid-October, where more than 30 local people provided input. Key findings from the Regional SIA will be reported back to the community early next year.

Elliott Whiting will commence project-specific SIAs for each individual project in early 2026. If you are interested in participating in these assessments, please contact Roundtable Engagement and Communications, who is supporting Elliott Whiteing to undertake the SIAs. You can email Roundtable at community@roundtablecomms.com.au or call them on 0475 065 105 to register your interest. They will then get in touch with you closer to the time.

Community Partnership Program – thank you for your feedback

We appreciate all the feedback received during the Community Partnership Program consultation. All feedback received is now being reviewed and summarised, with key themes to be shared with Townsville City Council in early 2026. We look forward to sharing an update in 2026.

Until then, we wish you and your family a safe and happy festive season.
